Undiagnosed Endocrine Conditions

A thorough endocrine workup can uncover conditions that are often missed or dismissed in a busy primary care setting.

  • Comprehensive hormonal evaluation
  • Symptom-driven diagnostic workup
  • Coordination with your primary care team

For First-Time Patients

What a First-Time Endocrine Workup Looks Like

Many patients arrive without a clear diagnosis—only a sense that something isn't right. Here's exactly what happens when you come in for an initial evaluation.

1The Initial Consultation

Your first visit is a 60-minute telehealth consultation directly with a fellowship-trained endocrinologist. There are no intake nurses or mid-level providers—you speak with the physician from the start.

We begin with a thorough review of your symptoms, their timeline, and how they've affected your daily life. We also review your medical history, prior lab work (if any), current medications, and any previous evaluations you've had.

The goal of this visit is to understand your full picture—not just to order a panel of tests, but to think carefully about what might be driving your symptoms and what the most targeted evaluation would look like.

2Laboratory Evaluation

Based on your consultation, your endocrinologist will order a targeted set of labs. These are sent electronically to a national lab network—you can walk into a convenient location near you, no appointment needed.

Depending on your symptoms, a first-time workup might include hormone panels (testosterone, thyroid, cortisol, DHEA, IGF-1), metabolic markers (glucose, insulin, HbA1c, lipids), and other targeted tests based on your specific presentation.

We don't order everything at once. Labs are chosen deliberately to answer specific clinical questions—keeping the process efficient and the results meaningful.

3Results Review

Once your results are in, your endocrinologist reviews them in the context of your symptoms and history—not just against a reference range. Many conditions are missed because labs are read in isolation rather than as part of a clinical picture.

You'll receive a follow-up visit to go through your results in detail. Everything is explained clearly: what the numbers mean, what they suggest, and what the next step should be.

4Your Care Plan

If a condition is identified, you'll receive a clear, individualized treatment plan developed collaboratively with you. If further evaluation is needed, we'll outline exactly what that looks like and why.

If no endocrine cause is found, we'll tell you that honestly—and where appropriate, help point you toward the right next step. You'll leave with clarity, not more confusion.

Common Reasons Patients Come In Without a Diagnosis

Persistent fatigue despite normal bloodwork
Unexplained weight gain or difficulty losing weight
Low energy, low libido, or mood changes
Brain fog or difficulty concentrating
Hair thinning or changes in body composition
Feeling "off" hormonally with no clear explanation
Symptoms of low testosterone not yet confirmed
Abnormal lab flagged by primary care, no follow-up
Prior thyroid or adrenal concern left unresolved

A Note on Who We See

Our practice was built with a primary focus on men's hormonal and metabolic health, and the majority of our clinical work reflects that emphasis. We are well-equipped to provide comprehensive endocrinology care for male patients across all of the conditions listed above.

We are genuinely happy to see female patients and do so regularly for many endocrine conditions. That said, we want to be transparent: not every subspecialty area of women's endocrinology is currently within our active scope of practice. If you are a female patient considering care with us, we warmly encourage you to reach out by email first. This gives us the opportunity to confirm that we are the right fit for your specific needs—and if we are not, to point you in a helpful direction.

Our Approach to Endocrine Care

Regardless of your specific condition, our approach remains the same: thorough evaluation, clear communication, and individualized treatment planning. We take the time to understand your symptoms, review your medical history, and order appropriate testing to arrive at an accurate diagnosis.

Treatment plans are developed collaboratively, with careful consideration of your preferences, lifestyle, and goals. We explain your options clearly, discuss potential benefits and risks, and work with you to choose the approach that makes the most sense for your situation.

Follow-up is ongoing, with regular monitoring to ensure treatment is working as intended and to make adjustments as needed. You will have direct access to your endocrinologist for questions or concerns between visits.
